Their skin color is determined by pigments called melanin that are produced by specialized cells (melanocytes) of the skin. There are more than 150 genes that affect skin color, either directly or indirectly. So there really is not much you can do about the natural pigmentation of your skin.
Sometimes this problem is caused by the poor production of melanin; Too little or too much melanin is produced causing disorders of skin pigmentation. These conditions make the skin look lighter or darker than normal, or stained and discolored. Excess melanin causes hyperpigmentation and too few melanin results in hypopigmentation. The cause is usually attributed to internal factors such as hormones, endothelial cells, or biological conditions such as pregnancy. External factors such as ultraviolet radiation, burning of the skin, or contact with certain chemical substances can sometimes cause pigmentation disorders. Stress and dietary imbalances, the precursors of many disorders, are also known to cause alterations in skin pigmentation.
Home remedies :
Gently apply the aloe vera juice or gel on the affected area and leave for 15 minutes. Wash with hot water. Aloe vera contains mucilaginous polysaccharides that can effectively lighten dark spots.
Honey and milk
Grate the skin of an orange and make a paste or gel with a few teaspoons of milk. Leave on for half an hour and then gently massage and wash with warm water. Exfoliate the face at least 3 to 4 times a week with this paste. Exfoliation stimulates cell renewal and eliminates dark spots.
Turmeric and milk
Make a paste of 5 tablespoons of turmeric powder in 10 tablespoons of milk and apply it on the entire face. Gently massage the face and wash with warm water after 20 minutes. 4. Make a face pack with almonds and honey. Apply and wash after 15 minutes.
Ayurvedic practitioners recommend taking 1 tablespoon of Triphala with warm water at bedtime to speed healing.
Sunlight worsens the condition, so wear sunscreen at all times.

Although there is really no cure for this disorder, certain home remedies can help treat the condition, but it can take a long time before you can see the difference.
Home remedies for vitiligo:
Avoid sour foods, acid fruit juices, says Dr. Rajesh Shah , director of the Life Force. This is because acidic foods change the pH balance of the body for acid but for the production of melanin that needs a more alkaline base. Avoid sea food also because of contaminants such as mercury.
Keeping the water overnight in a drinking copper container can help reduce vitiligo stains. Make it a habit.
Prepare a mixture of 5 teaspoons of turmeric powder in 250 ml of mustard oil. Apply the paste twice a day to the affected area. It may take up to a year to see the results.
Dust Bakuchi seeds ( Cullen corylifolium ), are mixed in coconut oil . Apply to the affected area. It is not exactly a home remedy, but you can buy Bakuchi oil right away and use it topically for vitiligo for more effectiveness.
Soak the Bakuchi seeds and tamarind seeds in the water you wash the rice grains with and keep it for a week. Grind it until you get a paste and apply it to the vitiligo patches. It is said to give quick results.
Apply a mixture of ginger juice and red clay to the affected area. It may take a long time to heal, but it is effective.
Mix 25 grams of the seeds of white radish powder and two teaspoon of vinegar. Apply it over the daily white patches. This is also a long treatment.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation sometimes, an infection of the skin, blisters, tanning, sunburn, other burns or other trauma to the skin, can cause a decrease or increase in pigmentation in the affected area. Apply a mask of papaya puree or use the juice on the affected area. It is a good home remedy for tanning and sunburn, plus it will soften and improve your skin complexion.
Make a preparation of tomato juice, 2 tablespoons of oatmeal and a half teaspoon of yogurt. Apply on the affected area and rinse after a while (or when it dries completely). Do it every day until you see results.
Add a teaspoon of lemon juice to a teaspoon of turmeric powder. Apply the paste on the affected area and leave for 15 minutes. Wash with cold water. Do not go out in the sun with the application on it.
Open an aloe vera leaf and apply the gel directly to the burn. Do it 5 to 6 times a day to see the improvement.
Another home remedy for sunburn is cornstarch powder to irritated areas. However, do not apply anything if the burn contains blisters.
Crush some mint leaves and mix with water to form a paste. To decrease dark pigmentation, apply the paste on the melanin spots and rinse after 15 minutes.
Another way to decrease hyperpigmentation is to rub an average cut of a lemon directly to your face. If you do not feel comfortable with this, dilute the lemon juice in the water and use it as a cleanser.
