One of the simplest and safest agents to lighten blemishes is lemon juice , which can do wonders. The ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in the lemon juice acts as an antioxidant and this action helps to lighten the color of the skin. All you need to do is squeeze the juice of half a lemon and apply it to the stain with a cotton ball. Or you could even rub it directly on the affected area to allow the juice to be absorbed into the skin. Leave on for at least an hour and then rinse. But be sure to avoid sun exposure at all costs when you have lemon juice on your skin or else your spot will be darker than before. {loadposition googleina}

In addition to using lemon juice by itself, you could also try combining it with turmeric powder or tomato juice. Mix approximately 3 teaspoons of lemon juice with 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder; apply this paste and let it act for half an hour; then rinse. Or make a puree of 2 medium tomatoes and mix with 4 tablespoons of lemon juice and apply to the darkened skin for about 20 minutes.

Milk

Milk contains a compound called lactic acid that works to help clear up dark spots on the skin. Use a cotton ball to apply some whole milk to the affected area; let dry and leave overnight, wash the next morning with a little warm water.

Yoghurt

Since it is made from milk, yogurt contains lactic acid and this gives it the same properties. You can also add a little lemon juice and oats to make a thick paste and apply on the stain. Also, regular application of buttermilk can help keep skin fresh and healthy.

Oranges

Like lemon juice, orange juice also has properties to lighten blemishes. Some people also have good results when they use a paste with two tablespoons of orange juice and a pinch of turmeric powder. This paste can be applied on the skin before sleeping and then removed the next morning.

Honey

Aloe Gel

The aloe or aloe vera gel can help clear up blemishes. Cut the outer layers of the aloe leaf, squeeze the gelatinous substance and apply to the affected area. Leave on for about 30 minutes and then rinse. Aloe gel works on all skin types .

Although these home remedies are effective, they take more time to act than commercial whitening products. Thus, it may seem that you have been testing the remedy for two days, but there are no remarkable results. Most of these remedies take a month or two with regular use to show the effects and, therefore, it is vital to have patience when using home remedies to remove skin blemishes.
